The Breast Unit of the Future at the Center of the 4th Padova Breast Meeting 2025
In the prestigious setting of Villa Contarini in Piazzola sul Brenta (Padua), the fourth edition of the Padova Breast Meeting will take place on September 11, 2025. The event reaffirms itself as a key reference point dedicated to breast reconstruction and technological innovation applied to the treatment of breast cancer.
The congress represents a moment of multidisciplinary discussion and professional updating, bringing together specialists from all over Italy and abroad, with the aim of outlining the future of the Breast Unit and its surgical, reconstructive, and care practices.
The Scientific Program
The day will open with institutional greetings and an introduction by the congress presidents: Professor Franco Bassetto, Director of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University Hospital of Padua, Professor Vincenzo Vindigni, and Dr. Laura Pandis, both specialists in the same department.
The first session will focus on immediate reconstruction. Different available options will be explored, ranging from heterologous materials to the use of polyurethane implants and dermal matrices. Renowned national experts will present experiences and clinical cases, opening a debate on the impact of different surgical choices.
The highlight of the morning will be the keynote lecture by Dragan Primorac, professor and researcher active between Croatia and the United States, who will address the theme “Shaping Tomorrow: The Future of Breast Regeneration and Tissue Engineering.” His talk will look beyond the current state of the art, toward the possibilities opened up by tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
Breast Unit between Artificial Intelligence and Surgical Updates
The second session will be dedicated to new technologies. Artificial intelligence will play a central role, with applications ranging from surgical planning to anatomical-pathological diagnostics, from mammographic screening to breast cancer genetics. This part of the program confirms how digital innovation has now become an integral part of the clinical pathway in modern Breast Units.
After the lunch break, the third session will focus on surgical updates, covering secondary breast surgery, treatment and prevention of lymphedema, conservative mastectomy techniques, and symmetry approaches.
Finally, the roundtable will bring together Breast Unit surgeons and representatives of affiliated private facilities.
Training and ECM Credits
The congress is accredited by the National Commission for Continuing Medical Education and will award 4.2 ECM credits. The event is open to various professional figures: medical doctors (in the fields of plastic and reconstructive surgery, oncology, general surgery, endocrinology, radiotherapy, and radiology), but also nurses, physiotherapists, biologists, chemists, and psychologists. This inclusive approach reflects the multidisciplinary nature of the fight against breast cancer.
A Meeting Point for the Scientific Community
The 4th Padova Breast Meeting 2025, made possible also thanks to the unconditional support of Revée, thus reaffirms itself as a valuable occasion to take stock of the latest innovations and to foster dialogue among professionals from different specialties.
The focus will not be only on surgical techniques, but also on the centrality of the patient and her care pathway, with an approach that integrates science, humanity, and technological innovation.
