Regenerative Plastic Surgery: Rome to Host an International Conference on New Frontiers in Regeneration
From adipose tissue and PRP to exosomes and stem cells, the conference will explore new applications for regenerating the face, breasts, hair and tissues. From 3 to 5 December 2026, Rome will host the fourth edition of the Regenerative Plastic Surgery International Conference, an international forum bringing together regenerative, reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery.
The conference will be chaired by Professor Pietro Gentile, Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, who will open the proceedings with a presentation drawing on twenty years of clinical experience in fat grafting and biological therapies for soft tissue reconstruction and hair regeneration.
The programme will bring together specialists from numerous countries and disciplines, including plastic surgeons, dermatologists, aesthetic physicians, trichology specialists, biologists and regenerative medicine professionals. The first two days will focus on scientific sessions, while on 5 December the programme will move to Clinica Madonna della Fiducia in Rome for a day of live surgery and video demonstrations.
Adipose Tissue, PRP and Exosomes: New Strategies in Regenerative Medicine
Adipose tissue will be a central focus of the programme, explored not only as a means of restoring volume but also as a resource for regenerative medicine and surgery.
The first day will begin with a keynote lecture by Dr Guy Magalon, a French plastic surgeon, on the evolving use of adipose tissue and the development of new therapeutic products.
This will be followed by a session chaired by Dr Steve Cohen and co-chaired by biologist Gianni Soldati, President of the Swiss Stem Cell Foundation, exploring biological and clinical strategies in regenerative medicine. Speakers will include Dr Carlo Tremolada, an Italian plastic surgeon, presenting on microfragmented adipose tissue, and Dr Marco Aurelio Pellon, a Brazilian plastic surgeon, who will return on the second day with a keynote lecture on new biotechnologies in regenerative medicine.
The programme will also address nanofat, micrografts, the stromal vascular fraction and adipose tissue cryopreservation: different techniques and perspectives united by the search for new ways to harness the biological potential of tissues for repair and regeneration.
Hair Regeneration: From PRP to New Therapies
A dedicated section will focus on hair regeneration, comparing regenerative approaches with conventional pharmacological treatments.
Participating specialists will include Dr Richard Chaffoo, a US plastic surgeon, Dr Lorena Visentainer, a Brazilian dermatologist, Dr Rubina Alves, a Portuguese dermatologist, and Dr Chiara Insalaco, an Italian plastic surgeon. Their presentations will explore different applications of PRP and regenerative strategies in the treatment of alopecia and in hair restoration surgery.
The second day will revisit the topic with a session on exosomes, PRP, micrografts and cell-based technologies for hair and eyebrow regeneration, chaired by Dr Guy Magalon. Topics will include combining nanofat and PRP with hair transplantation, the use of the stromal vascular fraction in androgenetic alopecia, and the integration of conservative and regenerative approaches.
Facial Rejuvenation: Surgical and Regenerative Approaches
Another major focus of the conference will be facial rejuvenation. Fat grafting, microfat, nanofat and the stromal vascular fraction will be discussed alongside facelifts, fillers, lasers, radiofrequency and other aesthetic procedures.
International specialists taking part will include Dr Alexis Verpaele, a Belgian plastic surgeon, Dr Michele Pascali, an Italian plastic surgeon, Dr Tunc Tiryaki, a plastic surgeon practising in the United Kingdom, and Dr Dario Bertossi, an Italian maxillofacial surgeon.
On the second day, Professor Steve Cohen, Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of California, will present on precision fat grafting supported by artificial intelligence and ultrasound, followed by a keynote lecture on regenerative deep plane facial surgery.
Breasts and Buttocks: Comparing Fat Grafting and Implants
Breast and buttock surgery will provide another important area for discussion. A session on the first day, chaired by Professor Pietro Gentile and co-chaired by Dr Ali Mojallal, a French plastic surgeon, will examine fat grafting in comparison with implants and other surgical reshaping techniques.
Speakers will include Dr Daniel Del Vecchio, a US plastic surgeon, presenting on implant replacement combined with fat transfer; Dr Aris Sterodimas, Head of Plastic Surgery at Metropolitan General Hospital in Greece, sharing his experience in breast fat grafting; and Dr Giuseppe Visconti, an Italian plastic surgeon, discussing the combined use of breast cerclage and fat grafting.
The discussion will continue on 4 December with a session dedicated to breast and buttock augmentation and reconstruction. Topics will include large-volume breast fat grafting, composite breast surgery, the correction of asymmetries and volume restoration using adipose tissue following implant removal.
Scars and Healing: The Role of Regenerative Medicine
Regenerative plastic surgery extends beyond aesthetic reshaping. A substantial part of the programme will focus on wound healing, scars and skin regeneration.
The session on 4 December will explore dermal substitutes, PRP, stem cells, fat grafting, exosomes and emerging biotechnologies. Presentations will include Dr Ali Mojallal on the use of adipose tissue in deep burn scars and Dr Dario Bertossi on the regenerative potential of exosomes for improving skin and scar quality.
The programme will also cover women’s health and regenerative urological surgery, with contributions from, among others, Dr Sophie Menkes, an aesthetic physician and director of an aesthetic and regenerative medicine centre in Morocco, and Dr Elisa Berdondini, an Italian urologist.
From Theory to the Operating Room: A Day of Live Surgery
Following two days of presentations and scientific discussion, the conference will move into its most practical phase on 5 December.
Clinica Madonna della Fiducia in Rome will host a day of live surgery and video demonstrations, organised into three main modules: Breast, Face and Hair. Each area will address regenerative, reconstructive and aesthetic aspects.
The fourth edition of the Regenerative Plastic Surgery International Conference will provide an opportunity to exchange international expertise and connect scientific research with clinical practice. Specialists from Europe, the United States, Latin America, Africa and Asia will bring different experiences and approaches to Rome, offering a broad overview of the discipline’s development.
Under the scientific chairmanship of Professor Pietro Gentile, the conference will review applications already established in clinical practice, alongside technologies that could become more widely used in the coming years.
From adipose tissue and PRP to exosomes and cell-based technologies, the three-day event will offer a perspective on the present and future of regenerative plastic surgery, with a focus on the relationship between scientific innovation, safety and clinical application.
