IX ANISC Congress 2025: breast surgery in a changing world

The IX ANISC Congress, organised by the Italian Society of Breast Surgeons (ANISC), will take place from June 15 to 17, 2025, in the picturesque setting of San Giuliano Terme (Pisa). The event will be hosted at the Pala Todisco Conference Centre and represents a key meeting point for the entire national and international breast surgery community, at a time when breast cancer surgery is facing major scientific, technological, and social challenges.
The multidisciplinary program of ANISC 2025
The congress will unfold over three days rich in clinical, scientific, and educational content, with a strong multidisciplinary approach. Breast surgery will be the core focus, around which many current topics will be explored, from mastectomy with reconstruction to new robotic technologies, from managing complications to addressing oligometastatic disease. The congress will also cover related aspects of gynecology, oncology, psychology, and nutrition as part of the patient’s care journey.
A key feature will be the exchange between Italian and international experiences. ANISC 2025 will also give a prominent role to the training of young breast surgeons. The English language session on June 16 will focus entirely on the quality of breast surgery education in Italy and abroad, with contributions from European and US experts.
For the first time at an ANISC Congress, a dedicated POSTER session will be held, with an award for the best scientific contribution by an under 40 participant.
The closing day, June 17, will be dedicated to clinical research in breast surgery, in collaboration with the Pisa Foundation for Science, and will also feature a parallel session for healthcare professionals, with a special focus on metastatic patients and quality of life.
Key topics of the event
Congress sessions will cover topics such as nipple sparing mastectomy and reconstruction techniques, the importance of infection prevention and management in reconstructive surgery, and axillary treatment in various clinical settings, including post neoadjuvant therapy. New approaches to the localization of non palpable breast lesions, including the use of augmented reality, will be presented, along with discussions on integrating complementary therapies and psychological support into comprehensive patient care.
Other key topics will include updates on BIA ALCL, prophylactic surgery in BRCA mutation carriers, multicentric breast neoplasms, the use of genomic testing in daily clinical practice, and the role of surgery in oligometastatic disease.
Three days of learning and synergy
The ANISC 2025 Congress is part of the Italian Ministry of Health’s National ECM Program and will award continuing education credits to participating healthcare professionals.
Revée will be present with an exhibition booth throughout the event. Adding to the atmosphere, the congress coincides with the San Ranieri festivities, which each year attract thousands of visitors to Pisa’s festive, illuminated Lungarni during the famous Luminara celebration.
